A Day Filled with Faith and Love
Alexis and Brandon had one clear priority for their wedding day: the Mass. Alexis mentioned how much they looked forward to the homily, the exchange of vows and rings, and their first dance. As two self-described “slightly awkward introverts,” they wanted photos that would capture them looking natural and lively on their big day.
One of the things that really struck me when Alexis inquired was when she wrote, “I initially didn’t reach out because we have a pretty small wedding budget and we aren’t sure we can spend very much on photography, but I have spent literal hours looking through your photos and every time I get a big emotional because photos like yours are the ones I imagine in our future home together. I love your creative style and it feels like the photos themselves are alive!” It made me feel so special that she was willing to stretch her wedding budget a bit to include me on her wedding day, and just how much she valuable having legacy photographs!
What made this day extra special was how Alexis and Brandon chose to have a private first dance with just themselves, me, and the videographer present. It was such a tender moment that showed the true heart of their relationship.
The Beautiful Setting of St. Luke Catholic Church

The ceremony at St. Luke Catholic Church in Nicholasville was simply gorgeous. The church’s stunning stained glass windows created a stunning atmosphere.
The church itself offers a lovely backdrop for Catholic couples seeking a traditional, faith-centered ceremony. Its classic architecture and reverent setting make it a popular choice for Nicholasville weddings.
A Heartfelt Reception at Extended Stave Events at McCall Springs

After the church ceremony, everyone headed to Extended Stave Events at McCall Springs for a reception that perfectly matched Alexis and Brandon’s personalities. This venue offered a charming, laid-back setting for their celebration.
Instead of a DJ and formal dancing, they opted for a more casual approach with:
- Cornhole games for guests
- A fun donut wall from North Lime Coffee & Donuts
- Lots of time for conversation and laughter
- Simple, tasteful decorations
The relaxed vibe allowed everyone to connect and celebrate in a genuine way that felt true to the couple.
Farm Photo Session with the Wedding Party

Between the ceremony and reception, we stopped at one of the bridesmaid’s family farm for some truly magical photos. The natural setting provided:
- Rustic backgrounds with authentic charm
- Space for fun, candid moments with the wedding party
- Romantic settings for the newlyweds’ portraits
These farm photos ended up being some of my favorites from the entire day. The natural setting helped our camera-shy couple relax and truly shine.

Catholic Wedding Photography FAQ

How long should we book a photographer for a Catholic wedding?
For a full Catholic Mass and reception, I have found that 9 hours of coverage is a sweet spot. That’s what Alexis and Brandon booked, which gave us time for getting ready photos, the ceremony, portraits, and reception coverage.
When should we schedule our family portraits?
Most couples take family portraits right after the ceremony at the church. Then we can head to a second location (like Alexis and Brandon’s farm setting) for wedding party and couple’s portraits before the reception.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes! My engagement sessions are an add-on but make for super fun photographs! These are a great way for us to work together before your wedding day and for you to get comfortable in front of the camera.
